Bianlian

I am sure curiosity brought you to this page. It was curiosity that got me introduced to this art, which I found is one of the most breathtaking acts ever. This is similar to the quick change artists who quickly change clothes over a matter of seconds, but Bianlian is different and truly enchanting in that it is performed by only very few people in the world and the changing time is in fractions of seconds.

The wikipedia entry on Bianlian is too brief and reads thus "Bianlian (Simplified Chinese: 变脸; Traditional Chinese: 變臉; Pinyin: biàn liǎn; literally "Changing Face") is a traditional Chinese art from Sichuan opera. Bianlian performers wear differently colored masks that they can change in a fraction of a second, allowing for a sudden change of facial expression. Bianlian is a highly esoteric secret that is under protection by the Chinese government.
