Dzongkha
National Language of Bhutan
Dzongkha is the national language of Bhutan. Although the script is similar to Tibetan the spoken language is completely unique.
In my endevour to popularise this languge which is very unique to Bhutan and to further strenghten the strong Indo-Bhutanese friendship, I compiled the world's first ever English-Dzongkha-Hindi dictionary.The dictionary boasts of over 20,000 words with phonetics for pronunciation. The dictionary aims at helping elementary Dzongkha learners. The efforts of my classmates in helping me in the compilation of the dictionary needs a special mention. The project was indeed the most satisfying one and kept me occupied during the most difficult times.
The spoken language is very different from the written one , so to enable causal learners and tourists I host a podcast to help learn conversational Dzongkha. The podcast is updated irregularly and the link to the podcast is found below.
